Production Team
The filmmakers assembling to bring Connie's extraordinary story to the screen.

Connie Nicholas Carberg
Subject & Consultant
At Ohio State, Woody Hayes let Connie attend every practice — even closed ones — and told her she belonged in professional football. In 1975, she made the Jets' final draft pick: Mark Bartoszek, a tight end from Ohio State. The following year, GM Al Ward named her the NFL's first female scout. Assigned to the Big Ten and beyond, Connie identified Wesley Walker — a receiver blind in one eye whom most teams had written off — and discovered Mark Gastineau at East Central Oklahoma, a player projected for the eighth round whom the Jets took in the second. Gastineau became the franchise's all-time sack leader, set the NFL single-season sack record, and earned five Pro Bowl selections. Nineteen of the twenty-two Jets starters in their 1982 playoff run were players Connie helped evaluate. Columnist Dick Young gave her the nickname that became the title of this film. Having attended more than sixty consecutive training camps — more than any player in franchise history — Connie remains the longest-tenured member of the Jets family. Her memoir X's & O's Don't Mean I Love You, co-authored with Elisabeth Meinecke, is an inspiration behind this project.
